Links When a production company is interested in hiring the services of the Film and Entertainment Recycling Initiative, a person will be hired by FaERI locally to be the "on-set recycler". Similarly to crew member availability lists, this person will be choosen from a pool of canidates that have already been interviewed and trained on the importance of not only their duties of recycling, but also film etiquette. The on-set recycler will be on location with the crew from call to wrap everyday, setting out recycling bins near most trash barrels: at base camp, the craft srevice area, holding, video village and other areas on set and provide each truck with a small recycling bin. They will manage these bins throughout the day and work with all departments to collect recyclable materials specific to their craft. The on-set recycler will sort the materials throughout the day and will then deposit them at the closest appropriate recycling facility. ![]() Beyond common recyclables, FaERI will work to find other organizations, schools or charities to donate excess lumber, paint, building supplies, furniture, office supplies, food, clothing and other reusable goods often left at the end of wrap. Currently, FaERI is just getting started in IA District No. 3 (New England). At the moment, it is focusing mainly on the daily recyclable materials, but hopes to expand to Phase 2- the reusables mentioned above, and even Phase 3- composting food from breakfast, lunch and often 3rd meals, as soon as possible. In order to keep this initiative going and help it reach all other IA Districts, your help with donations and memberships are greatly needed.
